Tower is a tall, typically narrow structure that rises above its surroundings, often serving as a landmark or lookout. In general use it refers to any vertical, elevated feature such as a castle tower, water tower, or clock tower. The term can also describe a high level of something in a metaphorical sense, as in “towering over the competition.”
