Stupa is a dome-shaped Buddhist reliquary or shrine that often contains sacred relics. Traditionally a stone or brick monument with a hemispherical dome, a square rail, and a parasol-like top, stupas encase relics and symbolize enlightenment, mind, and the universe. In many Asian cultures, they are focal points for pilgrimage and devotional rituals.
