Loess

Loess is a fine, wind-blown sediment formed by the accumulation of silt in which the grains are predominantly mixed with clay. It creates soft, cohesive, yellowish to pale brown deposits that can form extensive blankets over landscape features. These deposits are typically highly porous and lend themselves to rapid water infiltration and distinctive soil characteristics.
