Ionosphere

Ionosphere is the layer of Earth's upper atmosphere, roughly from about 60 to 1,000 kilometers above the surface, containing a high concentration of ions and free electrons that affect radio propagation. It reflects and refracts radio waves, enabling long-distance communication. The term combines 'ions' and 'sphere' to describe this ion-rich spherical region.
