Encephalitis

Encephalitis is an inflammation of the brain tissue, usually due to infection or autoimmune processes. It can cause fever, headache, seizures, and altered mental status, sometimes with long-term neurologic effects. The term combines Greek roots for brain and inflammation, and it is used in clinical, academic, and research contexts.
