Diarthrosis

Diarthrosis is a type of joint that allows a wide range of movement, characterized by a joint capsule and synovial cavity. It denotes freely movable joints, such as the ball-and-socket or hinge varieties, with high mobility and distinct articulating surfaces. The term is used in anatomy to contrast with synarthrosis and amphiarthrosis, which permit less movement.
