Anconeus is a small triangular muscle on the posterior elbow, assisting elbow extension and stabilization. It originates near the lateral epicondyle of the humerus and inserts onto the olecranon of the ulna. In anatomy contexts it’s often discussed alongside the triceps as part of the posterior compartment of the arm.
